I think the main point is the educate and to learn new or useful things as I mentioned before but this project not just about the content, I mean, the roman or arabic numbers and the conversion between them — it is a good iPad/iPhone sample project as well because it contains the main and default techniques on iPhone/iPad.
this is good place to view the main techniques for the beginner developers, they could see how the rotation technology works, how to manage the views and how to take cafe of any table and the table's datas and how to connect the table's datas with the CoreData data storing system.
unfortunately, the source code is not available in spite of the Pergament is a free application, no one can download and examine the code and the class structure but I'm here to answer any question which you would be interested in.

what is this project?
this project is not more and not less than a little converter between the roman and arabic numbers with many extra additional and useful information about them.
in the real life we know the popular roman numbers (for example: on the face of clock) but what was the origin of these numbers? how could they used them? which roman number does represent your birth date?
it is easy, you find many way to convert a roman to arabic number and vice-verse but this project try to explain everything about these numbers and about our arabic numbers as well, from the beginning.
you can use this application to teach your students or children easily and when you'll see a roman number on a door, in a street's name or in a famous person's name, you'll know which number what you see. you won't need to be thinking.

the project reborn
the Pergament project is not a new thing, it has been developed in 2009 and it was very popular on the iPhone platform, maybe because of the application was completely free.
now, we can make the iPad and iPhone version in one, the design has been re-though and, of course, the new version will be available again for free soon for everyone in the Apple's Appstore.
